Dear Baker Families,
Welcome to James H. Baker 6th Grade Campus.
Every school has a purpose. Ours is simple.
We believe every child deserves to be known, challenged, and prepared to build a future filled with opportunity.
Sixth grade is one of the most important years in a student's educational journey. It is the bridge between childhood and adolescence, between elementary school and the opportunities that await in junior high, high school, and beyond. Bridges aren't simply places we pass through; they are places where growth happens. Students discover new strengths, develop greater independence, and begin to see what they are capable of becoming.
That is why Baker exists.
Our responsibility is not simply to teach lessons or prepare students for the next test. It is to help every student grow academically, socially, and personally. We want every child who walks through our doors to leave believing they are capable of achieving more than they imagined when they arrived.
Everything we do is guided by our Baker Promise:
Every student will be Known. Challenged. Prepared.
To be Known means every student is seen, valued, and supported by adults who genuinely care about their success.
To be Challenged means we hold high expectations while providing the encouragement and support students need to reach them.
To be Prepared means equipping students not only with academic knowledge, but also with the confidence, character, and resilience they will carry throughout their lives.
We cannot accomplish this alone.
The strongest schools are built on trust and partnership between educators and families. When students see the important adults in their lives working together with a shared purpose, they gain the confidence to take risks, overcome challenges, and achieve remarkable things.
I am honored to serve this community and excited for the year ahead. Together, we will create an environment where every student feels they belong, every family feels welcomed, and every Baker Bear has the opportunity to thrive.
